The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), and the Ministry of Education, will conduct a School Safety Hand-Off Course in Union Island during the period 29th - 31st August.

The main objective of this Course is to build capacity in the area of School Safety in the Southern Grenadines, by increasing the cadre of teachers and other stakeholders trained as School Safety Instructors to assist with teaching this program nationally and regionally.

This Course is the final stage in a series of School Safety Courses held with teachers from pre-schools, primary schools, the Union Island Secondary School, and members of the different community groups in Union Island, Mayreau and Canouan.

The Course will take place at the Union Island Secondary, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day. It will be facilitated by Mr. Cecil Shillingford, USAID/OFDA Disaster Risk Reduction Consultant, and Mr. Andrew Bramble from the Ministry of Education.
