The launch of this country’s first Electric Vehicle and Charging Station is being seen as a major step forward in the thrust to achieve energy efficiency here.

The project was undertaken by the Energy Unit in the Prime Minister’s Office, with funding from the United Nations Development programme, UNDP.

Speaking at the launch, UNDP Project Co-ordinator, Dr. Alston Stoddard explained that the launch was held as part of a project dubbed: Promoting Access to Clean Energy Services in SVG, which is being supported by the Global Environment Facility, GEF.

He pointed out that although oil prices have reduced significantly in recent years, steps must be taken to prepare for the possibility that they may begin to rise again in the future.
